There are so many blogs, articles, and videos about marketing strategies, you’d think anyone with remedial research skills would have uncovered it all by now. However, there’s something Inc.com writer John Lincoln began researching—whether the top marketers keep the top strategies to themselves. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Would you want to share your best secrets with the competition? Lincoln began digging deeper, asking marketers not what their strategies were, but just how much they shared.

When he came to me, I told him the top marketers share about 90 percent of their strategies, but keep the top ten percent to themselves. That’s what I do, and it’s paid off. Ninety percent might sound like a lot, but when it comes down to it that much strategy is tough to copy. Still, just to play it safe I keep a few choice items to myself. That helps me keep an edge while still letting me share most of what I’ve learned.

Even Neil Patel admitted that he doesn’t share everything, which leaves you wondering what that ten percent is!
